Afternoon tea in Worcestershire

Take afternoon tea in a grand 18th-century manor house.

Treat yourself to a relaxed meal at The Elms.

What better way to relax after strolling the grounds than with a selection of sweet and savoury treats and your choice of tea or coffee?

Whether you’re celebrating a special day or simply want a little light indulgence, tea at The Elms is a delightful way to spend an afternoon, served from 2.30pm to 5pm every day of the week.

In the winter, find a place by one of the crackling fires in the bar or the Front Hall for a cosy cream tea. Alternatively, you can take high tea in style in the Drawing Room or our elegant Brookes restaurant. At special request, or as part of a pampering day at the spa, tea is also served in the Garden Café, with wonderful views over the lawn.

The Elms’ scone recipe

Whip up a batch of homemade scones using our very own recipe, courtesy of Head Chef John Brandon.

For 4-6 scones:

250g flour (sieved)
14g baking powder
55g butter
42g sugar
1 egg
70ml buttermilk or Greek yoghurt
42g sultanas

Mix the flour, baking powder, sugar and butter together until it looks like breadcrumbs, then mix in the milk and egg until it is all combined into a dough. Rest the mix for two hours in cling film. Roll to an inch thick and cut out your scones (dipping the cutter in flour each time to help them keep their shape) and place them on a baking tray. Leave for another 15 minutes to rise before baking in an 180-degree oven for 10-15 minutes.
