On our doorstep

Sitting toward the northern end of the Malvern Hills, The Elms enjoys beautiful views over the Teme Valley and makes a perfect base to explore the area, both on foot or by car, and discover that perfect picnic spot.

Another great way to explore the area is by steam train on the Severn Valley Railway. Starting at Kidderminster, where they also have a museum packed with railway memorabilia, you can enjoy an excellent and fun way to see the surrounding countryside up as far as Bridgenorth, about an hour away. There is also a rich variety of attractions to choose from which should appeal to the whole family. Just two miles away is the English Heritage site of Witley Court with its  magical world of beautiful gardens, lakes and amazing fountains.

A little further away, on the edge of Kidderminster, is the West Midlands Safari Park which offers a drive-through experience to come face to face with some amazing animals. The park also offers a variety of rides for children of all ages. On a smaller scale, you could always visit Rays Farm, a family-run affair where you can enjoy some close encounters with the animals and birds as well as a lovely woodland walk.

For those with an interest in the aquatic life, there is the National Sea Life Centre in Birmingham, about 30 miles away, where you can see hammerhead sharks, giant turtles and many other weird and wonderful creatures.
Further afield again is Drayton Manor Theme Park, promising exciting thrills, adventure and family rides and attractions. It is also home to Thomas Land where the children can enjoy seeing all their favourite characters from the famous Thomas the Tank Engine series.

If castles and stately homes are more your thing, Eastnor Castle is probably the best choice and also has the most stuff for children going on, such as a treetop walkway and maze. The more adventurous could try the Top Barn Activity Centre who have a great range of outdoor adventure activities on both land and water.

For exploring, The Elms is in an excellent position, being in the heart of England's green and pleasant land and yet not too far from the M5 which makes life easier for getting here or for expeditions involving bigger mileages.
